Maybe I'm thinking too far ahead but has anyone here experienced and actually benefited from Fidelity TurboTax discount? Anyone got their fee or $5 version and was it genuinely cheap or free? I'm concerned there might be hidden fees. I'm interested to know if it's worth relying on their offer or is it better to just get the best deal when it's closer to January?

I've come across a mix of opinions about the Fidelity TurboTax discount. It could be a great deal if you're eligible for either the free or the $5 version, but just keep an eye out for any additional state fees or processing charges that might pop up.

Do you have an idea of which version you might qualify for? Also, are you okay with filing early, or do you prefer to wait and look for better deals as tax season approaches?

Curious about the type of tax return you're looking to file, something straightforward or a bit more complicated. That could really influence which option works best for you

I've used Fidelity's TurboTax discount a couple times and got the $5 version without any surprise charges. It worked for basic federal and state filing but once I added stock sales or freelance income, the upgrade kicked in. Worth checking which TurboTax tier fits your filing so you can compare it to seasonal deals from other providers. What does your return usually involve, just W-2 and standard deductions or a few extras?

Some get the $5 or free version through fidelity, others just get a small discount. It's variable and depends on what shows up in your account around tax season, if you don't get a good offer, it's usually cheaper to wait for January deals elsewhere
