We were reviewing our insurance recently and realized our home contents coverage is set higher than what we’d actually estimate it would cost to replace everything. It got me wondering if we’re just throwing money away on premiums, or if there’s some benefit to keeping that buffer. It kinda feels unnecessary to insure for more than we own but, I’m not sure if there’s any advantage like avoiding underinsurance issues or covering unexpected costs during a claim
